Alexandra Breckenridge has teased an announcement for the much-awaited return of
Virgin River could be coming sooner rather than later. Virgin River fans should keep
their ears to the ground this week as a season six announcement could be coming very soon.
The exact release date of the next instalment is still up in the air following Netflix CEO Ted Sarandosâ confirmation that it will arrive before the end of the year.
Season six was previously expected to air in early 2025, so millions of fans are still in the dark as to when exactly their favourite show could return.
In the meantime, series lead Alexandra Breckenridge, who has portrayed Mel Monroe in all five seasons so far, has been keeping her followers as well-informed as she can.
She recently took to her Instagram with a fresh update about Melâs next adventures with Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson).
The actress promised fans: âThereâs a lot of information thatâs about to come out about season six of Virgin River.
âIâm not going to spoil it for you but Iâm just going to let you know that some info is going to start seeping its way out to you soon.â
With the end of 2024 fast approaching, hopefully this means an announcement is coming soon in time for Virgin Riverâs return around the holiday season.
Alexandra and Martin have both confirmed theyâve wrapped up their last scenes as Mel and Jack in season six, so itâs just down to the producers to finish the final edit ready for release on Netflix.
Her update comes shortly after she gave some rather controversial advice to her co-star Zibby Allen about her character Brie Sheridanâs relationship with Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth).
In their I Like You Very Much podcast, she said: âIf I could give advice to Brie, or if she could give advice to Mel, what would it be? And I said, âDonât get back together with Brady!’â
The starâs comments clearly sparked some ire amongst Virgin River fans, as Alexandra later had to take to social media to try and clear the air.
âIâve already said this, so I donât why people are still having a cow about it,â she said.
âBut if you were just in the Virgin River world, and you didnât know about anything else and you werenât outside watching it as a TV show, you would give her the same advice.
âSo can we just start from that perspective? Because that was the perspective I was given when I was asked the question.
âNow thereâs a whole hullabaloo about it. I mean, everybody calm down. Itâs just a TV show. Itâs not real life.â
Brie has since taken a liking to Jackâs friend Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), but will their relationship flounder or flourish next season?
