*Home and Away* star Ada Nicodemou has shared her deep concerns about her 12-year-old son,
Jonas, getting his own phone and access to social media. As her son prepares to start high school next year,
Ada, 47, revealed that she plans to give him a phone, but she’s terrified of the dangers
he might face online, particularly the threat of cyberbullying. Ada confessed to having a love-hate relationship with social media herself, finding it addictive at times, and while she tries to ignore negative comments from trolls, they occasionally take a toll on her.
Ada empathizes with children growing up in today’s digital world, expressing her fear that it will only get harder for Jonas as he gets older. She urged parents to delay giving their kids access to social media for as long as possible, emphasizing the importance of protecting them from the potential harm it can cause. In support of this stance, Ada is backing the Unplug 24 campaign, a movement encouraging people to boycott social media for 24 hours on October 24th. The campaign was founded by Wayne Holdsworth, whose 17-year-old son tragically died after being tricked into a sextortion scam by online trolls.
In her personal life, Ada shares her son Jonas with ex-husband Chris Xipolitas, whom she was married to for nine years. After splitting from Chris, Ada dated businessman Adam Rigby for eight years before they ended their relationship in 2023. Most recently, she confirmed her relationship with *Home and Away* co-star James Stewart, describing their romance as a happy and unexpected development. Despite its early stages, Ada says she is “super happy” with how things are progressing.
