Fans patiently awaiting the highly anticipated sixth season of Virgin River may
want to check out this very similar show, which even stars one of the same actors.
Virgin River fans have been praising another compelling TV series with
a very similar premise that ended nearly a decade ago.
Millions of viewers are eagerly awaiting the return of the beloved small-town romance on Netflix, with the hope that a sixth season will debut before the end of the year.
In the meantime, the devoted community has been debating the best shows to fill the void during the showâs long hiatus.
One fan recently suggested a series that follows a young woman readjusting to life in a small town, much like Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge).
Not only does she start working as a GP (similar to Melâs role as a nurse practitioner), but she also meets a handsome bartender, befriends the mayor, and becomes her boss, played by none other than Tim Matheson aka Doc Mullins from Virgin River.
The show is The CWâs Hart of Dixie and, if fans are to be believed, itâs definitely a crowd-pleaser for Virgin River fans.
A newbie took to Reddit and shared: âI just rewatched VR and while Iâm waiting for s6, I just started watching a show called Hart of Dixie for the first time.
âIt has a VERY similar plot and plus Doc is in it!!! I only watched s1e2 so no spoilers please but has anyone watched or will watch?â
A number of other viewers responded with enthusiastic support for the Virgin River lookalike.
âThis has been my favourite show since it aired in 2011. So funny! Enjoy!â one fan replied.
Another said: âHart of Dixie is one of my favourite shows!! You will love it.â
While a third even suggested: âHart of Dixie is a much better show, mainly because the characters are more quirky and interesting. Itâs also funnier.
âVirgin River is too dramatic and ends up being too soap opera-like.â
The original poster agreed: âThereâs something about it, I canât quite put my finger on it but itâs better. Probably better acting lol.â
One fan finally exclaimed: âI really like Hart of Dixie. I want to live there.â
