There is no official release date yet for Virgin River Season 6. However,
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos hinted that new episodes might arrive in late 2024. This announcement came during a Netflix Q2 earnings interview, where Sarandos mentioned several shows, including Virgin River, scheduled for release before the end of the year.
Filming
The filming for Virgin River Season 6 began on February 22, 2024, and concluded in June 2024. Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, the series’ main actors, confirmed the return to the set through their Instagram accounts. Netflix had renewed the show in November 2023, even before Season 5, Part 2, was released.
Cast
Although a complete cast list for Season 6 is not yet available, two key actors—Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan—are confirmed to return. Other returning cast members include Tim Matheson as Dr. Vernon “Doc” Mullins, Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea, and Colin Lawrence as John “Preacher” Middleton, etc. John Allen Nelson is also expected to reprise his role as Everett, Mel’s biological father.
Plot
The official plot synopsis reveals that Season 6 will feature Mel and Jack’s wedding. The storyline will include flashbacks to the 1970s, showcasing Mel’s parents. Another key plotline involves Everett, Mel’s father, whose backstory will be explored through flashback episodes. In Episode 2, viewers will learn about Everett’s past connection to Virgin River and how it affects Mel today.
The new season will also delve into Mel and Jack’s future, including the construction of their house and barn. There will be further exploration of their road to parenthood, especially in the wake of their previous struggles with miscarriage. Meanwhile, other characters, such as Lizzie and Denny, will navigate pregnancy, while relationships like those between Brie and Mike, Cameron and Muriel, continue to develop.
