Coronation Street fans are convinced that Joel Deering (Calum Lill) has been murdered

by none other than local Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and, honestly,

even we’re convinced. Last week’s Corrie left us on a huge cliffhanger

as Joel left a voicemail for Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), promising to give everyone what they wanted.

As the camera panned round, it became apparent that he had been involved in some kind of tussle, as he had suffered a nasty injury to his face.

When Monday’s episode rolled around, Dee-Dee presented the voicemail to DS Swain, who set about looking into it, before returning with the news that she believed Joel had taken his own life.

Though Dee-Dee argued, Lisa was adamant that that was the only explanation. As she left the cafe, fans couldn’t help but notice that she was clearly in pain, flinching as she lifted her arm to open the door.

Fans believe that Lisa has killed Joel

Outside, things looked even more concerning when she ended up retching, before having to sit down and take deep breaths after a conversation with Carla Connor (Alison King).

Over on Reddit, fans were quick to question what could have caused her pain, with several suggesting that perhaps she had had a confrontation with Joel the previous night.

‘Joel’s face was bleeding with what looked like scratch marks at the end of Friday’s episode, which is odd for a sober person who is faking their own death,’ one user pointed out, adding that Lisa was also behaving strangely.

‘I think they got in a fight and she killed him,’ they added, arguing that that was why she was so determined for everyone to accept his death as being a suicide.

‘I reckon there will be a flashback episode showing the voicemail again with Swain either sitting next to him in his car with a weapon or getting up after being knocked out and attacking him.’

Another user also recalled how Lisa’s phone had been broken, adding: ‘I reckon maybe she had a fight with Joel and her phone got broken in the process.’

Fans were also discussing the possibility on Twitter/X, wondering if Lisa was hiding something about Joel’s suspected death.

With everyone’s theories floating around, we couldn’t help but look for some evidence of our own to suggest that Lisa murdered Joel – and there was plenty to choose from.

We couldn’t brush past Lisa’s conversation with Carla, during which she admitted that she had a personal connection to this case, given that Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) had also been targeted by Joel.

Could she have lashed out in revenge for Joel’s behaviour towards her daughter?

Not to mention, when she was forced to release Joel because of a lack of evidence and made it clear that she wasn’t one to be messed with.

‘In the meantime, even look at Dee-Dee or Lauren again, and it won’t be prison you’ll need to worry about. And yes, that’s a threat…’ She had told him.

So, has Lisa stayed true to her word and finished Joel off?
