CORONATION Street fans have been left panicked over apparent

behind-the-scenes drama on the soap. Stars behind the scenes have cryptically hinted that

all is not well on the long-running ITV serial drama.

Sally Anne Matthews, 53, has played the role of Jenny Bradley – the troubled daughter of legendary villain Alan Bradley – on the cobbles since 1986.

The actress first departed the show in 1991 before making a brief return two years later.

This was before she made a full comeback in 2015 and has been stalwart on Coronation Street ever since as the landlady of the Rovers Return.

However, we recently reported on the cryptic video that she left for fans on social media.

She spoke to fans during a late night Instagram live where she revealed she hasn’t filmed on the cobbles for a while.

The star also explained that fans shouldn’t expect to see her character for a long time.

She said: “I chose to get on an airplane because I’m particularly quiet at work.

“I’ve got like a million years off, so I chose to go on an aeroplane and I chose to remember happier times. And then I’m going to go back to Cyprus, and do nowt.

“And at some point I might get a job and someone might employ me, potentially.”

Fans quickly took to soap forums in their droves to comment.

One wrote: “No confirmation but proof that all is not well behind the scenes.”

A second stated: “There is something going on behind the scenes. Quite clear the cast aren’t all too happy about the contracts and block storytelling.

“She certainly doesn’t sound very happy with the show. Makes you wonder what things are like behind the scenes,” noted a third fan.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.

Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.

She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.

As a fourth wrote: “This is weird nonetheless, and doesn’t really inspire confidence in the way they are treating their actors.”

And a fifth added: “It’s clear all isn’t well behind the scenes.”

Sally was previously asked if she had been axed by new boss Kate Brooks before making an awkward sound.

She then admitted: “You’re not going to be seeing Jenny for quite a long while. So that’s that.”

This comes after it was announced that Helen Worth would be leaving her role as Gail Platt after 50 years on screen.

Helen, 73, is the third-longest star in the soap, behind only William Roache (who plays Ken Barlow) and Barbara Knox (who plays Rita Tanner).
