Martin Henderson wants his fans to be extra careful on social media.

A few days after the actor’s TV show Virgin River announced its season 5 premiere date,

Martin went on Instagram to share an alarming security issue with his social media accounts.

Posting a photo of himself posing in front of what appeared to be an ice cream store, he shared how he caught wind of some people pretending to be him on the internet. As he emphasized in the caption, fans should only trust his blue check mark account to share personal or professional updates.

“This is my only account!! Period!!” he penned on August 6. “I do not chat to fans on ANY other apps, or forums. If someone saying they are me (or my representatives)is communicating with you outside of this page they are not me. Go ahead and ask them what flavor I had and let me know their answer … and tell me your favorite flavor….”

Because the Grey’s Anatomy alum has over a million followers on the platform, it wasn’t long before Martin’s cautionary message caused a commotion among his dedicated fans.

“I have reported so many Martin wannabe’s and they still keep trying. Hackers/scammers are exhausting at times. Martin, enjoy your ice cream ,” one person wrote on Instagram. “The hackers are just everywhere lately! I got a friend request from myself the other day. A tad creepy!” another noted. “I use to be contacted by ‘fake’ representatives on your behalf by IG, the next time I will ask them your ‘flavor’ !” a different follower added.

Needless to say, it’s always a good idea to be extra careful. But when Martin isn’t sharing important security PSAs on his Instagram, he’s giving his Virgin River fans something to look forward to, like when he posted the below behind-the-scenes photo while shooting season 5.

In case you missed it, Netflix revealed recently that the first 10 episodes of Virgin River season 5 will debut on September 7. Two holiday-themed episodes will then be dropped on November 30. TLDR, we have MUCH to look forward to and can’t wait to see Martin’s Instagram posts as the release date draws nearer.
