Reeling from Cash’s proposal, Eden is in freak out mode. She reminds him that

it wasn’t that long ago that he was absolutely terrified at the prospect of marrying her.

Eden rants to her friends about the proposal, but everyone around her pushes

her to think about her answer properly, even if the proposal was spur of the moment.

Cash realises he needs his sister, and despite their conflict over Rory, the news of the proposal instantly brings Felicity to his side. She helps him realise that, while he was thinking about what he wanted more than what Eden might want, the proposal was genuine. Back to being friends, they acknowledge they they’ve missed this.

Eden is caught hiding out the front of Cash’s house by multiple friends as she hesitates to face him. She pops up from her hiding place behind the bins, only to see Felicity standing in the yard. Felicity gives Eden some advice: if she really loves Cash, then she should just be honest with him. This advice isn’t enough just yet, and Eden chickens out from talking to him again. What if he ends things because she can’t give him what he wants?

Cash invites Eden to meet at the beach, and this time she works up the courage to face him. After he explains that he doesn’t want her to do anything she doesn’t want to do, he just wants to spend forever with her – whatever that looks like – she’s suddenly brought to the realisation that her answer is yes.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie grills Mali about his involvement with the River Boys and the police raid. Mali explains that, after going home and getting a strict talking to, he’s well aware of where he went wrong. He made a bad decision, and he won’t let it happen again.

Elsewhere, after enjoying his birthday dinner, Perri apologises to Tane for causing a fuss at the hāngī with a shy hug. Tane continues to try to bond with Perri over martial arts and their shared culture, but Mackenzie’s offer of a belated birthday beer is more appealing.

Later, Mackenzie reminds Perri that Tane’s heart is in the right place. But it’s not enough to keep him from pulling back as Tane continues to try and instigate bonding activities. Mali decides to try reaching Perri, and finds him at the bus stop, planning to leave the Bay. Shortly after their brief heart-to-heart, Mali arrives at the gym with a grim expression on his face. Without elaborating, he tells Tane that he needs to get home.
