The cast and crew started filming Virgin River season 6 in February 2024

Virgin River star Martin Henderson shared an exciting filming update for season 6 on Instagram!

Henderson, who stars as Jack Sheridan in the hit Netflix original series, posted

a behind-the-scenes picture from the set of Virgin River season 6. In the background of the pic, you can see Mel, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, and Jack on the screen at the studio. In the caption, Henderson, who is also directing an episode of the season, revealed that the cast and crew are almost done filming the new season.

Production listings indicate Virgin River season 6 will wrap on May 30, 2024. That’s pretty much in line with what Henderson revealed.

Of course, this is great news for fans of Virgin River. In theory, the sooner production wraps and they can begin post-production, the sooner we should see season 6 on Netflix.

Unfortunately, Virgin River season 6 is confirmed to be released sometime in 2025. In February before production started, Deadline reported that Virgin River season 6 was not on Netflix’s 2024 schedule, which seems to be accurate.

Netflix has shared some of the shows that will be returning in 2024, and Virgin River season 6 has always been left off of those lists. It’s interesting to me that production is wrapping this soon in 2024, and the season is being held until 2025. Perhaps, there’s a good reason for doing that? Perhaps, there’s not. We don’t know.

My assumption is that Netflix already has a pretty loaded calendar for the second half of 2024. There are so many new Netflix shows coming in 2024. We know new seasons of Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Squid Game, The Night Agent, Outer Banks, Heartstopper, The Umbrella Academy, Arcane, That ’90s Show, and many more are on the way later this year.

It’s obviously a bummer that we’ll be waiting that long for Virgin River season 6, but it’s great that they’re nearing the end of production on season 6. It opens the door for season 7, assuming it happens, to start filming later this year to cut the gap between seasons.

We’ll just have to wait and see how it shakes out, but for now, it looks like Virgin River season 6 will be back in early 2025 on Netflix.

According to Netflix, Colin Lawrence, Annette O’Toole, Zibby Allen, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Tim Matheson, Sarah Dugdale, Kai Bradbury, Kendyse McClure, Marco Grazzini, and Mark Ghanim are also back for season 6.
