A beloved Coronation Street star has said their goodbyes to the cobbles, following Leanne Battersby’s exit.
Over on the soap recently, soap legend Leanne (Jane Danson) has been lured into
the mysterious cult by mentor Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper).
As a result, her loved ones, fiancé Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) have all shared their concerns over Leanne especially Toyah who was recently diagnosed with germ-cell ovarian cancer.
With no one else to confide in, Nick and Toyah started to grow incredibly close – but it didn’t take long for one thing to lead to another. Following a shock kiss, the pair ended up sleeping together.
Leanne said her goodbyes – and she wasn’t the only one
Unfortunately, the pair were caught out by Rowan – who snapped a photo of them during a passionate moment. Showing his true colours, Rowan has since been blackmailing Nick into investing in The Institute’s new resource centre. If he refused, he would tell Leanne about his affair.
However, this week, Rowan’s plan backfired when Nick warned him that he would report him to the police for extortion. In another blow to Rowan, Leanne has also been prioritising her sick sister, over him and the Institute.

And during Friday’s episode (August 16) Toyah was released from the hospital – with Leanne adamant she was going to look after her. However, she received a message from stepson Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) – who is working abroad. Simon was stressed at work, and asked Leanne to come over and visit him.
Despite insisting she was going to stay, Leanne decided to leave the cobbles and visit Simon – but she wasn’t the only one. Nick’s son Sam (Jude Riordan) ended up tagging along for the trip during his six weeks off, and the pair were waved off by Nick as they drove off on a taxi.
