Coronation Street star Ruxandra Porojnicu was “nervous” and unsure about her surprise

return to the ITV soap as Alina Pop.The star broke her silence on her soap comeback this week

telling The Mirror all about her return storyline as spoilers confirmed the news

after speculation. Ruxandra is reprising her role as Alina on the show after a dramatic exit plot back in 2021.

Somehow it seems Tyrone does learn the truth, thanks to his mother Cassie Plummer, and Alina is reunited with her ex. On working with her pals again, Ruxandra told us: “It’s great, it’s great being back with the cast and crew, they are so lovely to work with. I am just so grateful to be a part of this beautiful project again.”

On her return, she added: “I was nervous. I was thinking, ‘how is this gonna [work]?’. It was lovely, everyone around me made it so easy. Playing her for two years, I knew her still!”

 

On her new cast mates, she said: “There’s so many new actors, I’ve met quite a few of them and they’re very lovely people. It was interesting for Alina to meet Tyrone’s mother cos she didn’t have the chance before. She has a big personality his mum, so it’s a laugh!”

The actress also shared her hopes for Alina to stay on the show, while this has not yet been confirmed. Meanwhile, viewers are predicting a baby twist for the character after recalling her final scenes back in 2021. Tyrone had left partner Fiz for Alina, only for him to then change his mind and want to reconcile with his ex.

Alina was devastated and decided to flee after her recent turmoil, while she soon discovered she was pregnant again. But just as she went to leave she told Tyrone there was no baby, while her final scenes saw her gently placing her hand on her stomach which hinted she was pregnant after all.
