Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that Joel Deering might have a secret sibling,
and it’s someone we already know from the cobbles. The villainous lawyer,
played by Callum Lill, first appeared last year, but his true nature only came to light recently
when he was revealed as the person responsible for Lauren Bolton’s disappearance, portrayed by Cait Fitton.
Despite being thought dead, Lauren made a surprising return to the street this month, leaving Joel in shock. She then dropped another bombshell – she was carrying his child.
Since then, Joel has been trying to keep her quiet by offering her a place to live in his old flat. He also pledged to fund her move to Ireland to start afresh, with Joel announcing she would be departing on 12 August and that he had three weeks to get everything in order, reportsĀ the Express.
Joel has caused plenty of drama
Now, fans are theorising that the Lauren plotline could be linked to another distressing storyline on the soap: the cult plot involving Leanne Battersby, played by Jane Danson, and the cult leader Rowan, portrayed by Emrhys Cooper.
Joel was behind Lauren’s disappearanceĀ
As viewers will remember, Leanne has been drawn into a mysterious “self-help” group led by the ominous Rowan. The cult has isolated Leanne and driven a wedge between her and her loved ones, including her sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) and fiance Nick (Ben Price).
Now, spectators are suggesting that Joel and Rowan could be working together, or even be brothers in what would be a massive DNA twist.
Corrie fans reckon Rowan and Joel could be brothers Ā
On aĀ Coronation StreetĀ fan forum, one devotee wondered: “Does anyone think the two ‘main’ storylines (The Institute and Lauren) could interlink. Or maybe Rowan is Joel’s brother or someone from his past.”
Echoing this sentiment, another viewer responded: “I’ve always thought this! ” Meanwhile, a third chimed in: “Rowan and Joel do look alike, probably both working together.”
