There’s also a ‘Christmas miracle’ and in the final scenes – after initially trying to lie – Mel’s biological father, Everett (John Allen Nelson), shows up outside her house and admits that he is indeed her dad. The showrunner revealed that their relationship will be a significant part of season 6 – what else do we know?

Virgin River season 6 – what will happen next for Mel and her father?

Patrick Sean Smith, who took over as showrunner of Virgin River from Season 5, gave an extensive interview to Deadline, where he was asked about the storyline of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and her father. At the very end of Episode 12, Everett wanted to reveal something important to his daughter – could it be about half-siblings?

The storyline of Mel and her father will be one of the key ones for Season 6 of Virgin River – the actor playing Everett has joined the cast, and the showrunner is looking forward to showing Mel discovering an unknown part of her life.

When Mel found out that her father was a resident of Virgin River, fans immediately began to put forward their own theories. One candidate was the Doctor (Tim Matheson), who over the course of five seasons became something of a foster parent to Mel. Why was this not decided?

And speaking of rivalry, the Christmas episodes made it clear that Mel and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) wedding is fast approaching. Will the Doctor and Everett compete for the honor of walking the heroine down the aisle? As the showrunner said, the writers are still thinking about it. However, we will certainly learn the inside story of Everett’s relationship with the titular town. How is it possible that everyone, including Jack, knows so little about it?
