Next week, Tane and Perry take off for a few days of camping, leaving Harper to deal with
the Bay’s questions alone. Marilyn kindly gives Harper a handmade blanket, asking if Tane wants
a boy or a girl. Harper, unsure, doesn’t know how to answer. Later, Xander questions if
Harper and Tane will be attending birthing classes together, and once again, Harper is uncertain. Things reach a boiling point when John starts prying into their living arrangements, causing Harper to finally snap. She admits they haven’t discussed it yet, but when they do, she’ll let him know.
Dana steps in, reminding John that if he’s looking for gossip, he should come to her. Overwhelmed, Harper breaks down under the pressure of the ongoing uncertainty. John later apologizes, with Alf jokingly calling him the town’s biggest gossip.
Upon Tane and Perry’s return from their trip, Tane suggests to Perry that they should move out and find their own place since they’ll need more space once the baby arrives. Despite having just spent three days together, Harper still struggles to get some alone time with Tane. When she politely asks Perry for privacy, Tane brushes off the importance of the conversation. Tane explains that Perry has been anxious about him abandoning him, and he’s been trying to reassure him. But Harper pushes back, asking about the promises Tane made to her and their baby.
As the tension builds, John interrupts again, proving Harper’s point about the constant questions. Tane admits he’s unsure about their future but vows to be at the ultrasound next week. However, Tane’s loyalty is tested when he learns Perry is preparing to testify against his father, Carl, in court on the same day. Tane tells Perry the decision is his, and Perry agrees to testify, determined to hold Carl accountable.
Harper later informs Tane that the ultrasound is scheduled for the same Thursday as the court date. Tane, torn between his promises, initially keeps the truth from Harper, saying he can’t make it. He eventually follows her, creating unnecessary tension, but ultimately vows to be there for her on Thursday, setting the stage for more drama.
