Home and Away‘s Xander Delaney stumbles across Harper Matheson’s baby secret

on UK screens next week. Xander discovers the truth after overhearing

a revealing conversation between Harper and her sister Dana, but not before jumping

to entirely the wrong conclusion.

Harper recently discovered that she’s expecting Tane Parata’s baby following their one-night stand at the gym earlier this year.

So far, Harper has only told Dana the truth while she considers her options. She has been reluctant to confide in Tane, partly because he’s distracted by mentoring Perri Hayes and partly because she doesn’t want to get his hopes up over becoming a father.

Next week, Harper continues to mull over her decision, reflecting on how her own parents were failures to her and Dana. She also isn’t sure how Tane will react to her revelation.

When Dana promises to support her sibling whatever happens, Harper eventually decides to keep the baby.

The Matheson sisters chat further at Salt, but they get so wrapped up in the discussion that they fail to notice Xander can hear them.

Xander walks away from the conversation wondering whether his girlfriend Dana could be pregnant – and he’s terrified as he doesn’t feel ready to become a father.

Later, Xander confides in his sister Rose about his secret turmoil and he wonders why Dana hasn’t shared the news with him.

Rose encourages Xander to respect Dana’s choices, but he insists that he just wants to be there for her whatever happens.

In the end, Xander approaches Dana for a private conversation and shocks her with unexpected baby talk.

Dana untangles the confusion and clarifies that she’s not pregnant. This prompts Xander to realise that Harper is the one who’s expecting a baby.

Xander breathes a sigh of relief that parenthood isn’t on the cards for him anytime soon, although Dana frets about how Harper will feel over him knowing the truth before she was ready to share the news.
