The troubled teen became involved with Joel earlier this year when he tried

to blackmail the villain, only for Joel to turn nasty and physically attack her.

Betsy seemingly set the wheels in motion for Joel’s downfall by reporting him to her mum,

DS Lisa Swain, though viewers had no idea until now about her involvement in Joel’s evil schemes.

Wednesday’s (September 18) episode included the damning revelation that Betsy seemingly helped Joel get the labour-inducing drugs he’d used to try to kill Lauren Bolton’s then-unborn child.

Betsy was feeling guilty about her role in the scheme after learning how Lauren and Joel’s son Frankie remained in hospital for urgent care.

She called her mate Sabrina Adetiba down the precinct to confess she’d done something terrible. Sabrina urged her friend to tell DS Swain the truth before the situation spirals out of control.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee Bailey and DS Swain were trying to track down how exactly Joel was able to get the off-market drugs he’d used to spike Lauren.

Lisa learned from the manufacturer that the drugs had been purchased from a private health clinic.

“I think we’ve got enough to charge him,” DS Swain told Dee-Dee.

The detective called Joel down to the precinct for more questioning, but he vehemently denied buying the drugs and cut short the interrogation.

On the cobbles, Betsy was worried to learn from Max Turner that Joel had been harassing Lauren. Max also explained that it was still touch-and-go whether Frankie would live.

Betsy met up with Sabrina at Roy’s Rolls, where she was again urged to come clean. Sabrina reminded her that if the police found out what she did, Betsy could “go down”.

“You need to tell your mum, it’s the right thing to do,” Sabrina insisted.

Over at the hospital, a dramatic scene unfolded when Joel showed up to harass Lauren once again. Max was able to get hospital staff involved to remove Joel from the building.

Max later interrupted Lisa and Betsy’s dinner at the Bistro to reveal Joel had confronted Lauren at the hospital. Max demanded Lisa get Joel locked up, while Betsy nervously listened.

Betsy was about to tell her mum the truth when she stopped short and made up an excuse to leave instead. She went over to the hospital to see Frankie but soon rushed out once Lauren demanded to know who she was.
