There is set to be huge controversy ahead as a major Coronation Street villain

is set to be left horrified when she receives a letter revealing that bully Mason Radcliffe

(Luca Toolan) is due to be released from prison.

Viewers will remember how Mason and his cronies made Liam Connor’s (Charlie Wrenshall) life a misery with their horrific bullying, so much so that they drove him to research ways of taking his own life.

This left Maria completely devastated, and she grew anxious and overprotective of her son.

After it transpired that Mason had threatened Liam with a knife, he was arrested and charged, before being found guilty of the crime in court.

Because this wasn’t his first offence, the judge had no choice but to give him a custodial sentence.

Determined to get answers over Mason’s release, Maria heads to the police station, unaware that partner Gary Windass (Mikey North) is already there providing bank statements with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

Sarah is set to come under fire in upcoming scenes when DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) pulls her in for questioning over a substantial sum of money in Nathan Curtis’ (Chris Harper) bank account.

When Gary emerges from the interview room, Maria demands to know what’s going on. Will he come clean?

Viewers will remember that Gary attacked Nathan, before Sarah paid him to keep quiet and stay away from Weatherfield – unbeknown to Maria.

When Mason’s bullying was uncovered, actress Samia Longchambon revealed Maria’s fears that Gary would end up lashing out.

‘Gary can be quite hot headed. And his initial thought is, “I’m going to kill Mason”, probably literally, knowing Gary’s history! So that is a concern for Maria.’

Will she be faced with these worries again?
