The cast of Coronation Street have reportedly been left upset by changes made behind the scenes
as a result of budget cuts on the ITV soap. Every year, the hard-working cast and crew let
their hair down at a summer party, though it has been reported that this has been culled among
the cut backs this year.
Last yearâs party saw members of the cast get glammed up and head to a swanky venue in central Manchester, with several pictures from the event being posted to Instagram.
âThere has been a lot of grumbling about the fact [the cast] have to pay for their own party this year,â an insider told The Sun.
âItâs one the biggest shows in the UK and the stars think a few free drinks is the least they should be getting.
âThere have been loads of cut backs this year on the soap and bosses made the decision to scale back where they can, so the party was one of the first things to go.
âEveryone will still go but they are not happy about it.â
Metro.co.uk has reached out to Coronation Street for comment.
This comes just months after it was reported that the show was cutting down on the number of extras being used in scenes, as well as claims that some of the regular cast members would be in less scenes.âAs large numbers of the cast are paid by scene, that means paying fewer actors to be on set,â a source explained to The Mirror.
âThe Corrie cast is absolutely massive â it has well over 50 cast members in total â and some of them havenât filmed for weeks, so they are starting to get really worried about the axe falling on them before long.â
Corrie is in the middle of some huge storylines, with the big reveal that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) is still alive having recently stunned fans.

Meanwhile, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) has been left devastated by son Kit Greenâs (Jacob Roberts) actions, while Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) still has a vendetta against Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) after his affair with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
