Rumor has it that there is some real family drama behind the scenes of the romantic series.
Many Virgin River fans were discouraged when the new season saw Lexa Doig’s Paige take Christopher
and leave the idyllic Northern California town, breaking Preacher’s heart.
Why Did Paige Leave Virgin River?
On top of that, Preacher was ready to get right back together with Paige. He even rushed to break up with Julia. But Paige decided not to come back.
She explained that Virgin River would never feel like home because of all the drama with Wes and Vince. After that, she said a tearful goodbye and left, never to be seen in the season again.
Naturally, the viewers were confused by such a plot development.
Why Did Lexa Doig Leave Virgin River?
It turns out there is a rumor circulating in fan discussions that explains the nonsensical storyline. And it has to do with Lexa Doig’s decision to exit the Netflix show over a personal grudge.
The rumor started after Season 2 when Paige fled the city for the first time after killing her abusive husband, Wes. Fans think that the reason for this could have been the recasting of Wes.
The cast and crew of Virgin River are pretty tight-lipped about it. Neither Michael Shanks nor Lexa Doig have said anything on record. But fans are sure that something must have happened behind the scenes to make the actress behind Paige want to leave.
Since her husband’s departure, Doig hasn’t promoted a single season of the show and only appeared in a few scenes. Yes, she returned in Season 4, but only to wrap up Paige’s arc.
All of this has led fans to conclude that the goodbye that Paige gave to Preacher and the viewers was final and that the character will never return to Virgin River again. What do you think?
