In heartbreaking news for *Home and Away* fans and crew, Bruce Murray, a beloved key grip
for the soap opera, has passed away after a courageous battle with stage four esophageal cancer.
Murray, who had worked behind the scenes for more than 20 years, was a cherished member of
the production team. He had been fighting the illness for over a year before his passing, which has left the cast and crew devastated.
Stars of *Home and Away*, both past and present, took to social media to honor Murray. Emily Weir, who plays Mackenzie, shared a heartfelt tribute that included a video of Bruce joking around on set, captioning it, “Love you, Brucey, you beautiful thing.” Former cast member Sarah Roberts also paid her respects, posting a virtual scrapbook of memories and a photo of Murray, saying, “What a man—never a dull moment on set or on the dance floor.”
Murray’s illness became public in October 2023 when a GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for his treatment. The page explained that his cancer had spread to his bones, ribs, spine, and other areas, and he was undergoing radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. The campaign raised funds from cast members like Georgie Parker, Philippa Northeast, and Ada Nicodemou, who all contributed to support Bruce and his family during his treatment.
Murray’s contributions to the film and TV industry spanned over two decades, working as a key grip and jib operator on projects like *All Saints*, *Above the Law*, and *Good News Week*. His talent and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
