of *Coronation Street*, who died at the age of 71. Murray is best remembered for her role

as Susie Burel, the best friend of Gail Potter, a character she portrayed from 1977 to 1979

and briefly reprised in 1983.

ITV released a heartfelt statement acknowledging her death on September 23, 2023, expressing condolences to her family and friends. They noted that her vibrant portrayal of Susie left a lasting impact on fans, even after her character moved to London for a new life.

After spending over two years on the show, Murray’s character departed Weatherfield, but she continued her career with roles in BBC sitcoms like *Hi-de-Hi!* and *Sorry*. She even appeared in Morrissey’s music video for “Every Day Is Like Sunday.”

During her time on *Coronation Street*, Murray was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and in 1998, she retired from acting at the age of 46 following a brief stint on *Emmerdale*.

In 2014, she featured in an ITV documentary celebrating 40 years of Gail on *Coronation Street*. Since the news of her passing, fans have taken to social media to pay tribute, with many reflecting on her significant impact in just two years on the show.
