Perri and Tane set up the beach for training. While they work, Tane encourages

Perri to think about going back to school but Perri deflects, announcing that

he’d like to work for the gym. Tane agrees on one condition – Perri has to write a cover letter.

It’s tough to get Perri moving on such a boring task, but Tane keeps pushing until he realises that Perri’s avoidance is the result of a struggle with reading and writing. Tane decides then and there to offer him the job, with no cover letter necessary.

Meanwhile, Dana approaches Xander, tipsy and ready to argue. It’s pretty clear that she has been drinking, so he’s having none of it.

Eventually, after they’ve both cooled off enough to talk about the argument properly, Dana explains that while the accident gave them a reason to get back together, it’s not what’s keeping them together. She wants to be with him, and he wants to be with her too.

Elsewhere, Leah pops in to see Irene, who hasn’t bothered to hide the evidence of her mimosas with Dana. She continues to criticise Irene for her drinking, to the point where Marilyn has to step in and remind her to be supportive, but it doesn’t work.

Irene finally snaps and yells at Leah to shut up about it. Irene is adamant that she has completely changed since her last time at AA. She has decided she’s well enough to be drinking again, both with friends and during a tough time.

Also today, at dinner with Mackenzie, Tane and Perri, Levi grows quiet and makes an excuse to leave. It’s clear to Mackenzie that something’s wrong, and in the morning she presses him about what’s going on. Levi reveals his thinking, asking Mackenzie whether she ever questions if they deserve to be happy.
