Many fans of Virgin River hate Charmaine for constantly scheming to get

in the way of Mel and Jack’s happiness. Lauren Hammersley explains that

there are two sides to this coin. Virgin River will return for a third season,

which maeans a continuation of the love triangle between Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge), Jack (Martin Henderson), and Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley). The latter is seen by viewers as an obstacle that will have to be removed sooner or later. The actress who plays her explains to TVLine why that’s unfair.

Virgin River: Lauren Hammersley Defends Charmaine

Lauren Hammersley admits that she is aware of the popular dislike of Charmaine. She sometimes hears from fans that they hate her character.

“Virgin River” is constructed in such a way that it is very difficult to be #TeamCharmaine, because she is a character who constantly creates obstacles in the way of the happiness of the main couple in the series. But it is not so simple when we put ourselves in her place – a pregnant woman abandoned by Jack.

As the actress explains, Charmaine is not a lunatic, just a normal person who wants what everyone else wants in life.

The actress also reveals an interesting fact in the interview: at first, she did not apply for the role of Charmaine. She sent an audition tape for the role of Mel, and a month later she received a call saying that she would play a different character. And that is how she became the main bitch in the series.

Despite everything, Lauren Hammersley hopes that Charmaine can be happy even without Jack. And could she be the person who shot Jack in the season 2 finale? “It is possible!” – admits the actress.
