Virgin River star Lauren Hammersley has opened up about the death threats

she’s received since starring as Charmaine Roberts. Fans of Netflix’s hit series Virgin River,

are eagerly awaiting the release of the show’s fifth season. Ahead of its premiere,

Charmaine Roberts star Lauren Hammersley detailed the harrowing death threats she received from viewers.

Since season one, hair stylist Charmaine has been a constant threat to Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) relationship.

After relocating to the small town for work, Mel and Jack hit it off and decided to take their romantic relationship seriously.

As a result, Jack cut things off with Charmaine who was his occasional fling for two years.

On numerous occasions, she tried to rekindle her relationship with Jack but he constantly turned down her advances.

This led to Charmaine hating Mel before she got a chance to know her.

Things then took an unexpected turn when Charmaine learned she was pregnant and told Jack that she was expecting his twins.

Charmaine star Lauren Hammersley opened up on the repercussions of starring as the character as she opened up on receiving death threats.

When asked if the hate she receives hurt her, Lauren responded: “When they’re talking about Charmaine it doesn’t because Charmaine’s not real.

“And she the villain in this show,” she added before doubling down: “Sort of, not really.”

“When somebody says ‘Charmaine is horrible,’ that has nothing to do with me, I haven’t seen a lot of it but ‘Lauren is horrible.’

“There’s been a couple like ‘you should die’ on Twitter, but when you say ‘you’ it means me as a person.”

She continued: “If you want Charmaine to do [that] that’s your opinion, that’s fine.

“I hope that she doesn’t because I like working, but it doesn’t affect me when somebody has an opinion about my character.

“But when it’s about me personally, I’m human so I’m pretty good at brushing it off but it does affect you a little, for sure,” Lauren admitted on the Chatting with B podcast.

Although Charmaine was pregnant and in a difficult relationship with Todd (Patrick Sabongui), Jack was there for her as a shoulder to lean on.

He was also more than willing to build a friendship with her for a healthy co-parenting relationship.

However, in season four Charmaine dropped a major bombshell and confessed it was all a lie.

After a scary panic attack, Mel and Jack were there to help her calm down when she admitted Jack wasn’t the father of her unborn twins.
