Coronation Street will offer more insight into who is targeting Bethany Platt next week.

The character returned to the cobbles earlier this year, with the journalist moving back to Weatherfield from London. Earlier this month, Bethany received some post she had redirected from London and was shocked to discover she had been a victim of fraud. Bethany was furious to learn someone had been fraudulently using her old company credit card.

Speaking to Daisy Midgeley, the latter encouraged Bethany to obtain copies of the statements in a bid to prove she couldn’t have made the purchases. Later, at the Rovers Return Inn, Joel Deering offered to give free legal advice to Bethany over the credit card and look into it.

Next week, the ITV soap will offer more insight into the storyline as Bethany shows the company credit card statement from Lazaret to Shona Platt. Shona studies the statement and notices that there’s a supermarket transaction. In a bid to find out more information, Shona suggests that it might have been a ‘click and collect’ and Bethany should phone in case there’s CCTV footage of the culprit using her stolen credit card.

It comes as fans are convinced they’ve already rumbled who is behind the fraudulent activity. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers think that Joel has been fraudulently using Bethany’s old company credit card to fund his evil double life. One person said: “I think Joel used Bethany’s credit card? #Corrie”, a different account put: “Who’s stolen Bethany’s credit card she shouldn’t even have? #corrie #coronationstreet” to which another replied: “Joel Joel Joel!!!!” while another added: “We just need to look out for a bloke with new trainers!”

Only recently, Joel was revealed to be Lauren Bolton’s killer in a huge twist. Roy Cropper had initially been wrongly arrested, charged and the number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren. However, DS Lisa Swain and newcomer Kit thought they had cracked the case as they arrested abuser Nathan Curtis, who previously made Bethany Platt’s life a living misery and was recently released from prison.

As they interrogated Nathan in the prison cell with Joel acting as his solicitor, a graphic flashback played as it looked like it was Nathan but later in the episode, it was revealed in a shocking twist that Joel was in fact Lauren’s killer. So far, Joel has managed to escape justice and the cobbles’ residents are oblivious to his evil ways. Is he behind Bethany’s card and will this be his downfall?
